Where Size Doesn't Matter
Get inspired by La Gomera, one of the smallest islands of the Canary Islands. In a complete contrast to Tenerife, La Gomera is a step back in time that boasts lush rainforests and deep ravines.
We start our journey in the South of Tenerife, where we take a 30 minute ferry from Los Cristianos to San Sebastian, the capital of La Gomera.
The island is also called the "Island of Columbus" as Christopher Columbus himself stopped for food on his way to discovering the new world. You can still discover trails of Columbus in the capital San Sebastian.
A highlight of this island is the defense "Torre del Conde" which is a medieval fortress and the oldest preserved building of the Canary Islands. We will then begin our round trip via Hermigua to Las Bolas to make a stop at the interesting visitor's center. Here you can discover a beautiful garden with typical Canarian plants as well as small shops with traditional handicraft and home-baked pastries of the insulars. After our stop we will continue forward to the National Park Garajonay. The nature park "Parque Nacional de Garajonay" owes its name to the lovers Gara, the princess of Gomera, and Jonay from Tenerife, a tragic love story similar to our well known Rome and Juliet.
The special feature of this National Park is the millennium laurel forest full of subtropical plants and trees that are unique to La Gomera.
Our journey then us through the breathtaking nature of La Gomera and back to the capital San Sebastian, where you can take a stroll through the beautiful town admiring the cobbled streets, ruins and open church.
